Independent week... Here's the Netflix.com synopsis: After coming within one question of winning 20 million rupees on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" 18-year-old Mumbai "slumdog" Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is arrested on suspicion of cheating. While in custody, Jamal regales a jaded police inspector (Irfan Khan) with remarkable tales of his life on the streets, as well as the story of Latika (Freida Pinto), the woman he loved and lost. Danny Boyle's film won a Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Picture. Roger Ebert gave the film 4 stars and said: 'This is a breathless, exciting story, heartbreaking and exhilarating at the same time.'

Additional Info

The venue is owned by Donna, an assistant organizer of this group, and we frequently have a variety of social events at the cafe which we let meetup members know about.

The film viewing is FREE. Cafe Libertalia's offerings will be available for purchase: French-press coffee, espresso, lattes, frappes, 'snack meals', desserts, organic pizza from Pizza Fusion and sandwiches from Which 'Wich (both across the street; all items to be ordered at Cafe Libertalia). We request that you make a purchase or a donation.

People often hang out after the film to talk about it and socialize -- everyone is welcome to join in.
