I am continuing the regular Friday night series but moving it from Antipasto to Heat. I'll be heading here as many Fridays as I can and hope that you will join me. This spot in Northwest Suburbs is what used to known as the Bamboo Room. Whether you loved it or hated it, the place has been gutted and completely redone. The bars have been swapped all around, and the open kitchen has been walled over and lined with bottle-service booths that face the dance floor. Goodbye tiki torches and palm trees, they have given way to a sleek blue and red color scheme, and the bartenders serve up martinis with themed names such as Voltage and Spark. While other places that we have gone to have been pretty laid back, Heat has a dress code and a $10 cover charge (if you arrive after 10:00pm) so be prepared. When you arrive, head for the bars in the back. You'll see me there in my signature white sunglasses. We will be starting at 10:00pm but show up anytime and join us when you're ready. If you're in for great drinks, energetic atmosphere, wild dancing, and a low price, this is your club. A true nightclub staple for the Chicago suburbs, this place has a great location, awesome dance scene, decent staging, and two floors with an outdoor bar to explore. There's fun for every kind of person; to the obvious dance floor, stage, and DJ's for clubheads; to pool and Golden Tee for bar hoppers, to the upstairs sitting area complete with fireplace for loungers and voyeurs, and the outdoor volleyball courts for the athletic drinkers. The $5 cover ($4 valet optional) can't be beat either! If you want a packed party scene, go on Saturdays after 11:30; if you're looking for something lighter, go on Thursday and Fridays after midnight.
