Due to close proximity of Halloween party, we moved our tasting from Thursday to Tuesday!
The date will NOT be on the last Thursday, but on:
Tuesday
October 27, 2009
7pm til when the fun ends...
The cost for the tasting is $25. If you buy 3 or more bottles the night of the tasting, you will receive 10% off the purchase!
This time we will taste the following wines:
David Bruce
2006 Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast, California
This has waves of luscious fruit such as, red cherry, cranberry and plums, with mocha-laden oak, nutmeg and cinnamon spices. The region ‘Sonoma Coast’ combines a cool ocean climate, with moderate rainfall and long sunny days to promote natural sugar development and good acidity.
Cain Cuvee
Non-Vintage Meritage
Napa Valley, California
Merlot 49%, Cabernet Sauvignon 41%, Cabernet Franc 9%, Petit Verdot 1%. Of our three Cabernet blends, the NV6 Cuveé uses the most Merlot which creates the plush and supple base. Mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc lend aromatic complexity and a bit of edginess to the taste so that the wine will dance on your palate. Also original to the Cuveé is the use of a portion of the previous vintage: 96% 2005 and 4% 2004. This adds complexity and polish to the finish.
Bogle Vineyards ~ Phantom
2006 Red Wine Blend
Clarksburg, California
A blend of 54% petite sirah, 43% zinfandel and 3% mourvedre, The Phantom is a haunting, fruit forward wine that begins with traces of blueberries, violets, chocolate-covered cherries and black pepper on the nose. Subtle notes of spice, clove and mocha complement the wine's fruit characteristics on the palate, finishing with toasting oak aromas from two years in a combination of one, two and three year old American oak.
ZD Wines
2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
This 2006 ZD Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has it all. The grapes were sourced from several small Napa Valley vineyards, each with its own unique ‘terroir’, giving us a varied palette of flavors and textures to work with when blending this wine. Each vineyard lot was hand harvested and fermented separately. Hand punchdowns in our small fermentors gives us a gentle extraction without aggressive tannins. Aged in our cellar for two years in American oak barrels, this wine is drinking beautifully now and will age gracefully for many years to come. Aromas of ripe dark plums, cassis and black cherries are complimented with subtle hints of cocoa, anise, tobacco and sweet, toasty vanilla. On the palate, lush, silky tannins envelop a solid core of ripe, forward black fruit, with perfectly integrated oak.
Bighorn Cellars
2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
Dark cherry, blackcurrant, leather, and smoke nicely rounds out the rich mocha mouthfeel of Bighorn's Reserve Cabernet. Aged over 24 months in partially new oak barrels, vanilla and spice completes this pretty package. It has a firm structure, that well-used term that means you can taste the tannins between the roof of your mouth and tongue. Cellar worthy, drink now through 2015.
Groth
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in Groth's area of the Oakville AVA. Patience during bottle aging will reward the "steward" with an outstanding bottle over the next 10 to 15 years.
We always have nice crowd of 14-20 people, so hope to see you all there! Also, I will have Halloween tickets for you to purchase at discounted price!
